SEE Monster drone show

Crowds on Weston sea front use their mobile phones to picture the first of several light displays using massed drones and lasers beside the SEE Monster art installation. There will be two more drone displays on 30 August and 01 September. The drone shows have been created by the award winning studio Skymagic, whose work includes the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee, the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games and London New Year’s Eve. The SEE Monster, a 450 ton retired rig from the North Sea in the former Tropicana open air pool, which is being transformed into one of the UK’s largest public art installations to inspire global conversations about a sustainable future. The SEE Monster is the first time in the world a former oil platform has been turned into a piece of art. The structure will feature gardens and an amphitheatre at the top where the shipping forecast will be piped and there will also be two seaside telescopes for people to use. SEE Monster will use its unique seafront location to harness the power of the elements to provide renewable energy for the structure. Along with the waterfalls and gardens it will feature places to meet and be a fun and educational place which will focus on weather, climate change and green technologies. Following delays it is due to open to the public at the end of September. SEE Monster is part of UNBOXED: Creativity in the UK.
