Bristol allotment holders hold a protest at City Hall this evening against changes proposed by Bristol City Council which will see changes to the rules for the city's allotments with some children’s play equipment banned, most trees removed deeper ponds drained of water and allotment fees doubled. Thousands have signed a petition against Bristol City Council’s proposals to implement the strict new rules and impose price hikes across the city’s allotments. Some allotment holders have trees on their allotments which bear fruit and provide in the summer and have ponds with newts and frogs. Other rule changes proposed by the council include a ban on glasshouses or greenhouses glazed with glass, so as not to contaminate the soil according to the council. Photo credit: Simon Chapman/LNP.
