Jewish families hurry through the Muslim Quarter of the Old City of Jerusalem at approx 6.30pm in order to reach The Western Wall in time for the start of the Shabbat (the Jewish sabbath). Jewish custom sees the lighting of candles scheduled for 6.39pm this evening, shortly before the sunset when Shabbat commences. The Western Wall is the most important shrine of the Jewish faith and is located in the Old City at the foot of the western side of Temple Mount.The Old City is comprised of four Quarters - the Jewish, Muslim, Christian and Armenian.
