Muslim women, maintaining social distancing gather to perform Eid al-Fitr prayers at London Islamic Cultural Society and Mosque, also known as Wightman Road Mosque in north London. Eid al-Fitr or the ‘Festival of Breaking the Fast’ celebrates the end of the month-long fast of Ramadan, and is being celebrated differently this year as a result of the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. Prime Minister Boris Johnson announced that Covid-19 restrictions on social gatherings, meeting indoors and social contact will ease on May 17, meaning Eid celebrations this week still face restrictions.
