Flowering bluebells protected by Woodland Trust
Download© Licensed to London News Pictures. 28/04/2022. CHORLEYWOOD, UK. A woman walks along a path amongst the native bluebells (Hyacinthoides non-scripta) flowering in Philipshill Wood near Chorleywood, ahead of the early May Bank Holiday weekend. This year, logs and tree branches have been laid down either side of the paths by the Woodland Trust to deter people and dogs from trampling the delicate flowers. The native bluebell is protected under the Wildlife and Countryside Act (1981) meaning that flowers cannot be picked and bulbs cannot be dug up. Photo credit: Stephen Chung/LNP
