The University authorities are planning to close their seafront halls of residence as a precautionary measure at 16.00 this afternoon in advance of forecast high winds and stormy seas. Of the 600 students living on the seafront, about 450 are in university-owned accommodation. They are being offered alternative accommodation on the university campus, or financial help to return home for the weekend.
