Bristol gives the city’s highest honour to Sir David Attenborough at an extraordinary full council meeting on Tuesday, December 17. Sir David Attenborough is widely recognised as the world’s greatest natural history programme maker. The decision to award the Freedom of the City follows a close association between Bristol, the BBC’s Natural History Unit (based in Bristol) and the renowned naturalist and film-maker. Freedom of the City will mean that Sir David Attenborough’s name is added to the Roll of Honorary Freemen of the City. Sir David Attenborough’s career as a naturalist and broadcaster has spanned nearly six decades and there are very few places on the globe he has not visited. 17 December 2013.
