A Global Day for Climate Justice march and rally takes place in Bristol city centre to push for decisive and radical action at the CPO26 summit in Glasgow. The march is one of many taking place across the world as part of a global day of action organised by the COP26 coalition and is demanding that leaders take urgent action to limit the global temperature rise to 1.5°C, invest in renewable energy to create unionised green jobs and services, and the payment of reparations to indigenous communities and the global south. Bristol City Council became the first in the UK to declare a climate emergency and has pledged to become carbon neutral by 2030 and went on to declare an ecological emergency in 2020 in recognition of the “unprecedented and escalating” threat to wildlife.
