Vaccine queue in Watford

People queue up outside a vaccination centre at Watford Town Hall in Hertfordshire as the government’s Plan B is introduced to try to curb the spread of the Omicron variant. Research by the UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA) has indicated that there is reduced effectiveness against the Omicron variant by two vaccinations but a booster gives around 70 to 75% protection against symptomatic infection. They also predicted that, if current trends continue, the UK will exceed one million infections by the end of the December. However, some scientists are already suggesting that more stringent, Plan C, measures should be applied as soon as possible. Photo credit: Stephen Chung/LNP
