Paramedics will go ahead with their strikes on 11th and 23rd January after talks between the Government and unions ended with no deal - despite hopes that staff may be offered a one-off lump sum. Health Secretary Steve Barclay announced up to £200 million to purchase extra beds in care homes and other local services to discharge patients who no longer need hospital treatment, and free up spaces for new ambulance arrivals. On 18 January nurses are due to strike over pay conditions. Photo credit: Dinendra Haria/LNP
