  • © Licensed to London News Pictures; 06/12/2020; Bristol, UK. Anti-Islamophobia Bristol: MARCHING FOR MUSLIMS march and rally in the city centre. The march is to protest the injustice of the recent coroner's ruling that Shurki Abdi's drowning in the River Irwell near Manchester in 2019 was an accident, despite what the campaign says is evidence to show otherwise, and to demand justice for her and her family, and over the French Government reaction to the attempted murder or two muslim women at the Eiffel Tower. The Anti-Islamophobia campaign has the following demands: UK government must condemn the tone and direction taken by the French government; UK government must demand harsher charges for race and faith based attempted murder by the attackers; Government must stand against the conflation of terrorism and Muslims; Government to produce a public statement standing for the rights of Muslims to practice openly and freely; UK government to commit to a formal review on the extent of Islamophobia within its own structures. The organiser says this is to send the message to Muslims and our allies, that Islamophobia is an emergency exception and requires action and solidarity even in a pandemic. The event was postponed from November due to the England lockdown for the Covid-19 coronavirus pandemic and attendees are asked to bring PPE and to have no groups more than 6 people.
